A two-time
All-Conference and Most Valuable Player, Robin Baggett played on
one of Cal Poly's best teams, holding a school record .780 winning
percentage.
An outstanding catcher, Robin did not allow a single passed ball
during his career, had a fielding percentage of .990 after
committing just one error as a senior and threw out over 70 percent
of opponents attempting to steal. His pitching staff holds several
school records, including lowest ERA (1.98) and most shutouts (12)
in a season.
As a senior Robin was
elected Student Body President. Following graduation with honors in
business, he chose a career in law, attending University of
California, Hastings College of the Law. Robin was an editor of the
Law Review and graduated in the top 2 percent of his class. He
clerked for the California Supreme Court and the United States
District Court in San Francisco.
Robin is Of Counsel to
his former San Luis Obispo law firm, Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut &
Baggett, where from 1993-2001 he served as General Counsel to the
NBA's Golden State Warriors. Currently, Robin devotes his primary
working efforts in the wine industry, owning Alpha Omega Winery
(Napa Valley), Tolosa Winery, Courtside Cellars and Edna Ranch
Vineyards (San Luis Obispo County).
In 2001 Cal Poly opened Baggett Stadium in honor of his service to
the University and recognition of his baseball career as one of the
best catchers in the program's history. Robin resides in Rutherford
and Pebble Beach, where he enjoys his passion for
golf.
