November 1, 2011 | Men's Soccer Big West Tournament in Crosshairs for Mustang Men's Soccer Team The Cal Poly men’s soccer program controls its postseason fate as the Mustangs wrap the 2011 regular season schedule by hosting No. 9 UC Irvine on Tuesday, Nov. 1 inside Alex G. Spanos Stadium ahead of Friday’s nationally-televised Fox Soccer Channel showdown at No. 23 UC Santa Barbara. Both matches kick off at 7 p.m. The Mustangs (6-7-3, 3-4-1) enter play in sixth place in the Big West standings on 10 points, but can reignite their conference tournament dreams with favorable results against Big West-leading UC Irvine (13-5-1, 5-3-1) and fourth-place UC Santa Barbara (11-5-1, 4-4-0). The top-four programs in the conference standings qualify for the Nov. 9 (semifinal) and Nov. 12 (championship) Big West Tournament, a competition the Mustangs have never missed in three previous renditions.

Spanos Stadium.
September 2, 2011 | Men's Soccer Cal Poly, New Mexico Finish in Scoreless Draw SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men’s soccer team matched a program record by holding an opponent to just three shot attempts for the second-straight match, but the Mustangs – despite producing 16 attempts of their own and threatening New Mexico’s net multiple times early in the second half – settled for a scoreless draw against the Lobos at Alex G. August 17, 2011 | Men's Soccer Feighner Named as Candidate for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Mustang senior left back Wes Feighner made athletics department history on Wednesday morning by becoming the first men’s soccer player and just the second Cal Poly athlete to be named as a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. Feighner, a three-year captain who has started 54 of 55 games during his career, is one of 30 finalists for the honor, which recognizes outstanding performances in the classroom, community and on the playing field.
August 17, 2011 | Men's Soccer Mustangs Selected to Finish Second in Big West Standings SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men’s soccer program, which returns seven regular starters from a 2010 side that finished 8-7-3 overall, was tabbed for a second-place finish in the Big West Conference standings this season following the Wednesday morning release of the preseason coaches poll. The Mustangs, who finished third in the Big West standings last year after registering a 5-3-2 mark (17 points), garnered 40 points and one of the seven available first-place votes.

July 27, 2011 | Men's Soccer Peterlin Stays in England; Agrees to One-Year Deal with Walsall SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Former Cal Poly men’s soccer midfielder Anton Peterlin, the first Big West Conference player to appear in an English Football League match, resumed his professional career earlier this week after agreeing to a one-year contract with Walsall Football Club. Peterlin had previously served a three-week trial with Walsall, which competes in League One, the third tier of English soccer.
