The Mustangs also dropped Saturday’s opening contest, 4-1.
May 2, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Hits UC Santa Barbara for Central Coast Rivalry Series The Mustang softball program wraps the road portion of its 2012 schedule and finalizes a six-game swing when visiting central coast rival UC Santa Barbara for a three-game May 5-6 set at Campus Diamond. The Blue-Green Rivalry series gets underway with a 12 noon doubleheader on Saturday, May 5 before closing with a 12 noon matchup the ensuing Sunday.
April 29, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Drops Series Finale at Big West Leader Pacific Sophomore catcher Mariah Cochiolo (above) swatted her third home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, but Big West Conference-leading Pacific finalized a three-game sweep of the Cal Poly softball program as the Mustangs dropped an 8-3 decision at Bill Simoni Field on Sunday afternoon.
April 28, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Topped Twice by Big West Leader Pacific The Cal Poly softball program grabbed the early lead through sophomore Kim Westlund’s third-inning, run-scoring groundout, but a two-run homer during the fifth from Pacific shortstop Nicole Matson counted as the difference during the opening game of a Saturday doubleheader at Bill Simoni Field as the Tigers prevailed, 2-1.
April 24, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Opens Six-Game Road Trip at Big West-Leading Pacific The Cal Poly softball program hits the road for the final time during the 2012 regular season as the Mustangs open a six-game swing with a three-game April 28-29 set at Big West Conference co-leader Pacific. Cal Poly, seeking its first conference road series victory of the year, enters weekend action in sixth place in the Big West standings after dropping two of three home games against UC Davis (April 21-22). Pacific, meanwhile, looks to break a four-way deadlock atop the Big West standings.

April 21, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Salvages Doubleheader Split versus UC Davis Freshman lefthander Chloe Wurst walked just one UC Davis hitter during a complete-game effort on Saturday afternoon as the Cal Poly softball team secured a doubleheader split against UC Davis at Bob Janssen Field with a 7-2 triumph. After collecting just three hits in game No. 1, however, the Mustangs dropped Saturday’s opening contest, 4-0.
April 17, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Welcomes UC Davis to Cap Six-Game Home Stand The Cal Poly softball program completes a six-game home stand when hosting UC Davis for a three-game April 21-22 set at Bob Janssen Field. The Mustangs (11-26, 3-6) improved to sixth place in the Big West Conference standings after winning two of three games against Cal State Northridge this past weekend. UC Davis (16-24, 6-3), meanwhile, worked itself in to a three-way knot for second place in the Big West standings with Long Beach State (18-21, 6-3) and UC Santa Barbara (21-25, 6-3) after sweeping last-place UC Riverside (18-23, 1-8). The second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against UC Davis will mark Cal Poly’s 900th game at the Division I level (1995-present).
April 15, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Sweeps Sunday Doubleheader from Cal State Northridge Junior center fielder Whitley Gerhart socked her team-leading third home run of 2012 and freshman lefthander Chloe Wurst conceded just two hits through the opening five innings to earn the victory as the Cal Poly softball program opened a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against Cal State Northridge with a 4-1 triumph at Bob Janssen Field.
April 14, 2012 | Softball Grand Slam Sinks Mustang Softball Program A third-inning grand slam from Cal State Northridge starting righthander Mia Pagano accounted for the only runs scored on Saturday afternoon as the Cal Poly softball team opened a three-game series against the Matadors with a 4-0 loss at Bob Janssen Field.
April 13, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Series versus Cal State Northridge Revised Due to inclement weather on the central coast preceding the Cal Poly softball team’s April 14-15 home series against Cal State Northridge, the Mustang program has been forced to revise the three-game set at Bob Janssen Field. Originally scheduled for a 12 noon doubleheader on Saturday, April 14 and a 12 noon single game on Sunday, the Mustangs and Matadors will instead open the series with a 4 p.m. single game on Saturday before contesting a 12 noon doubleheader on Sunday.
April 11, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Opens Six-Game Home Stand versus Cal State Northridge The Cal Poly softball program opens a six-game home stand with a three-game April 14-15 set versus Cal State Northridge at Bob Janssen Field. The series against the Matadors opens on Saturday, April 14 with a 12 noon doubleheader before closing with a 12 noon single game the ensuing Sunday.
April 9, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Produces Historic 4-3 Victory at Fresno State Sophomore catcher Mariah Cochiolo’s two-run homer during the top of the seventh sent the Cal Poly softball program’s Monday matchup against Fresno State into extra innings and sophomore shortstop Kim Westlund’s two-out, run-scoring single during the top of the 10th stood as the winning run as the Mustangs produced a 4-3 victory at Bulldog Diamond.
April 7, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Edged in Series Finale at Long Beach State, 2-1 Freshman righthander Jordan Yates scattered five hits during a complete-game effort on Saturday afternoon, but the Cal Poly softball program dropped its second-straight one-run decision against Long Beach State, falling at 49er Softball Complex in the series finale, 2-1.
April 6, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Drops Narrow Decisions at Long Beach State Sophomore first baseman Madi Vogelsang produced run-scoring hits during both ends of a Friday afternoon doubleheader against Long Beach State, but the Cal Poly softball program saw an early lead overturned during game No. 1 and a late rally stopped in game No. 2 as the Mustangs fell at 49er Softball Complex, 4-1 and 3-2.
April 4, 2012 | Softball Mustangs Visit Long Beach State and Fresno State on Four-Game Swing Just a game out of first place in the Big West standings following the opening weekend of action, the Cal Poly softball program (8-22, 1-2) continues conference play when visiting Long Beach State for a three-game April 6-7 series before heading to Fresno State for a Monday, April 9 single game.
April 1, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Splits Sunday Doubleheader versus Cal State Fullerton Freshman righthander Jordan Yates (above) tossed a complete-game, four-hitter with five strikeouts to earn her first collegiate victory as the Cal Poly softball program opened a Sunday doubleheader at Bob Janssen Field with a 4-1 triumph against Cal State Fullerton. The Mustangs, however, failed to carry any momentum over to the second game and dropped a 7-0 decision against the Titans.
March 31, 2012 | Softball Titans Top Mustang Softball in Rain-Soaked Big West Opener Junior center fielder Whitley Gerhart homered and the Cal Poly softball program collected 10 hits, but in a Big West Conference opening game delayed an hour by rain on the central coast, the Mustangs fell against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday afternoon at Bob Janssen Field, 10-2, in six innings.

March 27, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Matchup at Fresno State Rescheduled for Monday, April 9 The Cal Poly softball program’s matchup versus Fresno State – originally slated for March 19, but cancelled due to rain – has been rescheduled for Monday, April 9 at Bulldog Diamond. The matchup will be a single game instead of a doubleheader and feature a 5 p.m. first pitch.
March 27, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Swept by No. 14 UCLA No. 14 UCLA lashed four home runs during the opening game of a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader and swatted four more during the second matchup as the Cal Poly softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader against the Bruins, falling 14-0, in five innings, and 14-5.

March 20, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Opens Home Slate with Mustang Classic, Twinbill versus UCLA After spending the first 42 days and 20 games of the 2012 campaign on the road, the Cal Poly softball program opens a 10-game home stand at Bob Janssen Field beginning with the March 23-25 Mustang Classic and continuing with a Tuesday, March 27 doubleheader versus No. 16 UCLA.
March 18, 2012 | Softball Mustang Monday Doubleheader at Fresno State Washed Away The Cal Poly softball program’s Monday afternoon doubleheader at Fresno State has been cancelled due to consistent precipitation in the central valley. The two programs will work to reschedule the matchup at Bulldog Diamond, most likely in April. Any further revisions to Cal Poly’s schedule will be posted when information becomes available.
March 16, 2012 | Softball Rain Washes out Gael Classic for Mustang Softball Program The Cal Poly softball program’s participation in the March 17-18 Saint Mary’s-hosted Gael Classic in Moraga, Calif., has been cancelled due to mass precipitation in the San Francisco Bay Area. Tournament games will not be rescheduled.
March 14, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Wraps 26-Game Road Trip at Gael Classic, Fresno State The Cal Poly softball program’s season-opening, 26-game road trip concludes with a four-game set at the March 17-18 Saint Mary’s-hosted Gael Classic before the Mustangs visit Fresno State for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Monday, March 19.
March 11, 2012 | Softball Mustangs Fall to No. 10 Stanford in Louisville Slugger Classic Finale Senior left fielder Nora Sobczak collected a game-high two hits against No. 10 Stanford on Sunday afternoon, but the Cal Poly softball program completed play at the 2012 Louisville Slugger Classic with a 10-0 loss in five innings against the host Cardinal at Jill and Boyd Smith Family Stadium.
March 10, 2012 | Softball Mustangs Halve Saturday Slate at Louisville Slugger Classic Sophomore third baseman Kim Westlund scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch during the bottom of the seventh inning and junior righthander Rebecca Patton struck out three James Madison hitters against zero walks to earn the victory in relief as the Cal Poly softball program opened play on Saturday evening at the Stanford-hosted Louisville Slugger Classic with a 4-3 victory against the Dukes. Cal Poly, however, dropped its second contest against San Jose State, 8-4.
March 9, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Team Drops Friday Pair at Louisville Slugger Classic Cal Poly softball junior righthander Rebecca Patton allowed just two Ole Miss hits through the initial five innings of Friday morning’s opening contest at the Stanford-hosted Louisville Slugger Classic, but the Mustangs surrendered six runs against the Rebels during the bottom of the sixth inning and dropped a 6-4 decision at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium. The Mustangs also fell during the second half of their doubleheader against Colorado State, 5-2.
March 7, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Team Visits Stanford’s Louisville Slugger Classic The Cal Poly softball program embarks on its fourth pre-Big West Conference tournament of the spring when visiting Stanford for the March 9-11 Louisville Slugger Classic, hosted at Jill and Boyd Smith Family Stadium.
March 5, 2012 | Softball Patton Named Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week After posting a 0.79 ERA and earning two victories in three appearances at the March 3-5 San Diego Classic, Cal Poly softball junior righthander Rebecca Patton was named Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
March 4, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Closes San Diego Classic with 8-2 Victory versus Nevada Senior Nicole Lund laced a two-run double during the second inning and sophomores Kim Westlund and Madi Vogelsang struck back-to-back home runs during the third to set the winning tone on Sunday morning as the Cal Poly softball team completed play at the San Diego State-hosted San Diego Classic with an 8-2 triumph against Nevada inside the Santee Sportsplex.
March 3, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Drops Late Decisions Versus San Diego and Utah State Junior righthander Rebecca Patton struck out six San Diego hitters on Saturday morning, but the Toreros struck twice with two outs during the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the Cal Poly softball program at the San Diego State-hosted San Diego Classic, 2-1. Despite a complete-game, two-hitter from freshman lefthander Chloe Wurst, the Mustangs also conceded a late run versus Utah State and dropped the second game of their doubleheader at the Santee Sportsplex, 1-0.
March 2, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Softball Perfect on Opening Day at San Diego Classic Junior righthander Rebecca Patton tossed a complete-game, four-hitter with five strikeouts during the Cal Poly softball program’s Friday afternoon opener at the San Diego State-hosted San Diego Classic while freshman lefthander Chloe Wurst earned the nightcap victory with five strikeouts in five innings of relief work as the Mustangs eased past Charlotte (3-2) and St. Joseph’s (6-4), respectively, at the Santee Softball Complex.
March 1, 2012 | Softball San Diego Classic Up Next for Mustang Softball Program The third installment of the Cal Poly softball program’s six-tournament, pre-Big West Conference stretch takes place March 2-4 as the Mustangs visit the Santee Softball Complex to participate in the 2012 San Diego Classic. Hosted by San Diego State, the Mustangs (3-7) open San Diego Classic play on Friday, March 2 against Charlotte (8-6) at 1:30 p.m. and St. Joseph’s (4-3) at 6:30 p.m. Action continues with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. against San Diego (4-6) and Utah State (5-6). February 26, 2012 | Softball Patton Pitches Cal Poly to Sunday Split at Cathedral City Classic Junior righthander Rebecca Patton matched a career high with 11 strikeouts on Sunday afternoon as the Cal Poly softball program completed play at the Cathedral City Classic with a 4-2 triumph versus New Mexico at the Big League Dreams Sports Park. The Mustangs, however, fell during the opening game of their Sunday doubleheader against No. 19 Oregon, 11-1, in six innings.
February 25, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Softball Team Pounds Way to Split at Cathedral City Classic Sophomore Madi Vogelsang – with no collegiate extra-base hits to her name entering play on Saturday afternoon – socked two home runs against No. 22 Nebraska at the Big League Dreams Sports Park to help lift the Cal Poly softball program to a 14-7 victory against the Cornhuskers at the Oregon State-hosted Cathedral City Classic. The Mustangs, however, couldn’t sustain the momentum and fell during the second half of their Saturday doubleheader against No. 3 California, 4-1.
February 24, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Drops Cathedral City Classic Opener versus Boise State The Cal Poly softball program struck first on Friday evening, but it was Boise State which enjoyed the majority of the scoring at the Big League Dreams Sports Park as the Mustangs fell against the Broncos during their opening game at the Oregon State-hosted Cathedral City Classic, 7-1.
February 22, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Resumes Tournament Action at Cathedral City Classic The Cal Poly softball program faces the nation’s top-ranked team for the second time in three weekends when continuing its six-tournament, pre-Big West Conference stretch at the Feb. 24-26 Cathedral City Classic. Hosted by Oregon State at the Big League Dreams Sports Park in Cathedral City, Calif., Cal Poly’s tournament stretch opens on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. against Boise State (7-3). February 12, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Softball Falls against Top-Ranked Arizona State Host and No. 1-ranked Arizona State scratched out a three-run second inning to set Sunday’s pace as the Cal Poly softball team capped its season-opening tournament with an 8-0, five-inning loss against the Sun Devils inside Farrington Stadium during the finale of the 2012 Kajikawa Classic.
February 11, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Softball Picks up First Victory of 2012 Sophomore shortstop Kim Westlund’s run-scoring double during the top of Saturday evening’s first inning proved to be the only score the Cal Poly softball program needed as the Mustangs earned their first victory of 2012 and split their Saturday schedule at the Arizona State-hosted Kajikawa Classic by downing Texas Tech, 3-0. The Mustangs, however, dropped an earlier 8-5 decision against Georgia Tech at the Tempe Sports Complex.
February 10, 2012 | Softball Mustangs Drop Pair at Kajikawa Classic to Open 2012 Campaign Sophomore third baseman Kim Westlund swatted her first home run of the year, but the Cal Poly softball program was unable to avoid a season-opening sweep on Friday, as the Mustangs kicked off their 2012 campaign with a 9-0 loss against Portland State and a 15-3 defeat versus San Jose State at the Arizona State-hosted Kajikawa Classic inside the Tempe Sports Complex.

January 12, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Program Cancels Jan. 14 Camp The Cal Poly softball team announced on Thursday afternoon that the program’s annual winter camp, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14 at Bob Janssen Field, has been cancelled. The camp will not be rescheduled.
January 4, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Winter Camp Right around the Corner Designed for girls ages 13 and above, the Cal Poly softball team recently announced that spots still remain for the program’s annual Winter Camp, scheduled for Jan. 14.

November 21, 2011 | Softball Mustang Softball Program Signs Two for 2013 Season Already returning 12 letterwinners from the 2011 season, eighth-year head coach Jenny Condon fortified the Cal Poly softball team’s future with the recent announcement that lefthanded pitcher Nicole Innamorato (Chino Hills, Calif. / Chino Hills HS) and infielder Breanna West (Downey, Calif. / St. Paul HS) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the program for the 2013 season.
