Green Tops Gold in Annual Swim Meet

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- In the Annual Green and Gold Meet, Cal Poly splits into two teams and face each other.  At the Anderson Aquatic Center on Saturday, Green came out on top 161 to Gold's 99.

Cal Poly's true freshmen showed some tremendous talent in the pool.  On the men's side, freshman Mickey Mackle finished first in three events including the 200 butterfly, 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley.  For the women, freshman Nicole Antoniuk touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle.  Other freshman women with wins during the match were Alisha Bender in the 200 freestyle and Allison de Peralta in the 100 backstroke.

Junior Adrian Brynnel won three events, the 1000 yard freestyle (9:41.66), the 200 yard freestyle (1:41.07) and the 500 yard freestyle (4:37.44).  Sophomore Paolo Stanchi, a transfer from Southern Methodist University, won the 100 backstroke (53.51) and 200 backstroke (1:55.00).  Senior Aaron McKinnon won the 50 yard freestyle (21.64) and the 100 yard freestyle (47.91).
Junior Jill Jones won the 50 yard freestyle (24.75) and the 100 yard freestyle (53.16).  Senior Rachel O'Brien won the 200 yard butterfly (2:04.03) and the 100 yard butterfly (57.66).
For the Cal Poly Divers, Sami McIntyre finished first with 392.30 points total.  For the men, Elliott Adams finish on top with a total of 397.00 points.
Cal Poly will next take part in the Alumni Meet on October 20th at 11 am.
