Cal Poly Splits Dual Swim Meet Against UC San Diego

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly swimming and diving teams split a non-conference dual meet against UC San Diego on Saturday at the Anderson Aquatic Center. After a full day of 32 events, the Mustang women's team won 185-115 while the Cal Poly men's squad fell short to the visiting Tritons 179-115.

In the women's 200-yard medley relay, Mustangs Allison de Peralta, Angie Haven, Rachel O'Brien, and Jill Jones finished in first place (1:45.87).

Freshman Allison de Peralta won the 100-yard backstroke (58.14) while senior Angie Haven won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.37), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.19), and finished second in the women's 200-yard IM (2:08.73).

Senior Rachel O'Brien placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.82) and won the 100-yard butterfly (55.97).

Other Mustang winners include junior Jill Jones in the 100-yard freestyle (52.08), Katrina Anderson in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.87) and Amanda Maffris in the 200-yard IM. Sami McIntyre won two diving events for the Mustangs in the 1-meter with 257.62 points and 3-meter with 277.65 points.

On the men's side, Mustang winners included Paolo Stanchi in the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.41), Sonny Fierro in the 500-yard freestyle (4:37.07), Konrad Antoniuk in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:33.18), and Micky Mackle in the 200-yard IM (1:52.27).

The Mustangs return to Big West Conference action at home Friday against Pacific at 2 p.m.
