Mustangs Finish Diving Invitational at UCLA with Platform Competition


LOS ANGELES – The six divers representing Cal Poly at this weekend's Bruin Diving Invitational finished Sunday afternoon with platform competition, concluding the three-day meet hosted by UCLA at Spieker Aquatics Center.

On the men's side, Mustang freshman Paul Fischetti placed 12th in the finals. He opened by scoring a 183.60 in the prelims before finishing with a 12-dive total of 355.40.

USC sophomore Collin Pollard won his second event over the course of the nine-team invitational, tallying a mark of 364.45 in the morning before totaling 738.65 after the finals rounds to win by more than 100 over the runner-up.

In the women's prelims, three-time All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation senior Sami McIntyre (pictured at right) led Cal Poly with a score of 155.25, coming in 26th place.

She was followed by junior Grace Greenwood (who posted a 143.40), fellow seniors Meaghan O'Meara (135.00) and Jean Bonsall (108.75), and junior Olivia Salvatore-King (106.95).

For the third day in a row, 2008 U.S. Olympian Haley Ishimatsu, a junior for the Trojans, earned the win, finishing atop the prelims leaderboard with 326.95 before compiling a total of 650.45.

The Mustangs will return to the deck to host their final home meet of the season, a dual versus UC Santa Cruz, at noon Jan. 25 at Anderson Aquatic Center (adjacent to Mott Athletics Center).
