SANTA BARBARA — Five different men's and women's swimmers picked up wins for the Cal Poly swim team Saturday in a dual meet against rival UC Santa Barbara Saturday.
Three men's swimmers and two women's swimmers each one events to go along with team relay wins in both the men's and women's 400 freestyle relay.
On the men's side, junior Paul Rogers won the Mustangs' first event, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:40.16. Freshman Gennady Sytnik then won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.61. Rounding out the final first place finish for the men was sophomore Mihail Amirokov who won the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.57, almost three seconds ahead of second place.
For the Mustang women, it was senior Emily Imfeld getting the first win in the 100 free with a time of 52.41. However, junior Amelia Feick was the star of the day for the women's team, winning two events on the day. First, she collected a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.32. She then followed that up with a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.28, over three seconds faster than second place.
The men's 'A' relay team of Rogers, senior Zack Allen, junior Nic Clark and senior Dominic Dalpiaz won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:03.09, over nine seconds ahead of second. The women's 'A' relay team of Imfeld, sophomore Stephanie Backlund, sophomore Emelia Piccininni and junior Emily Peters won their 400 free relay with a time of 3:34.00, over three seconds ahead of second.
Overall, the Gauchos won the dual meet on both sides, with the men's score 147-110 and the women's score 154-103.
Next up for the Mustangs, the women's team hosts Pepperdine Saturday, November 3 at 11 a.m. from Anderson Aquatics Center.
