SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After averaging 5.43 kills per set in two wins last weekend, Cal Poly junior outside hitter Maia Dvoracek earned her fifth Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honor this season.
She becomes the first Mustang to win five weekly awards in one season since Kylie Atherstone collected six in 2007.
Dvoracek hit .338 as she notched her 17th and 18th consecutive matches with double figure kills after finishing with 16 in a sweep over UC Irvine and 22 in a four-set win over Cal State Fullerton. Her 22 kills against the Titans marked the seventh time this season she has gone for at least 20 kills in a match.
She had 10 kills in the first set alone against the Anteaters. She also added three aces in each match and totaled 15 digs and three blocks in the two wins.
Dvoracek finishes the regular season with a 4.30 kills per set average, second-highest in the Big West this season.
